Look Out World....I'm Finally Here!

Dear Diary......

On March 24, 2008, I, Reese Whitney Van Brocklin graced the world with my presence for the first time!  I decided since Mommy did not like being pregnant, I would do her a favor and come a week early!

The story leading up to my grand entrance....
Mommy had some mild cramping all day on Easter Sunday, March 23rd.  She called her doctor, Dr.Baker, around 4pm and she assured Mommy that it was most likely just Braxton Hicks.  Daddy timed them, but they were pretty far apart and not completely regular, so off they went for Easter Sunday dinner at Aunt Caren & Uncle Gordon's.  During dinner, the cramps continued but still nothing regular or painful enough to worry about.   So Mommy & Daddy returned home at about 11pm that night.  No sooner had they laid down in bed, then POP!!!!!  Needless to say, Mommy's water broke!  She says it was like Niagra Falls and Daddy agreed.....like nothing they could have ever imagined!  They describe it like the movies....Mommy running into Daddy, Daddy running into Mommy, trying to find the hospital bag, water leaking everywhere Mommy walked....and then the real cramping set in!  With Mommy hunched over in pain, Daddy got a trash bag down on the front seat of the car, hospital bag in hand, and off they went to the hospital.  It took about 25 minutes to get there and by the time they got Mommy admitted, she was already 9cms and practically ready to push!  She REFUSED to give birth without an epidural, so they rushed in the doc and once the meds set in, it was smooth sailing from there!  It was instant relief from the horrible pains she had been experiencing and no sooner had the doc gotten there, that I was born!  I think it took all of 4 pushes and my official entrance happened at 2:45pm!  I was 7lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches long.

And so the exciting journey begins.....
